Fire Pump Testing & Service

Annual 3-point flow tests, weekly churn test setup, pump controller diagnostics, and full system commissioning for diesel and electric fire pumps across Colorado and Wyoming.

Annual Flow Test

Per NFPA 25 Chapter 8, we run your pump at three operating points and verify against the original pump curve:

  • 0%Churn / no-flow — verify shutoff pressure
  • 100%Rated capacity — verify rated pressure
  • 150%Overload — verify minimum 65% rated pressure

What's Tested

  • check_circleSuction and discharge pressure at all three points
  • check_circlePump room ventilation and ambient temp
  • check_circleController transfer to alternate power source
  • check_circleJockey pump cut-in / cut-out pressures
  • check_circleDiesel: battery, fuel level, starter, exhaust
  • check_circleElectric: motor amps, voltage, phase balance

FAQ

How often does NFPA require fire pump testing? expand_more

NFPA 25 requires a weekly no-flow churn test on electric pumps (monthly for diesel) and a full annual flow test at 0%, 100%, and 150% of rated capacity. Both must be documented and available to the AHJ.

Do you bring your own test equipment? expand_more

Yes. We arrive with calibrated pitot tubes, hose monsters or flow meters, calibrated gauges, and the required hose stream apparatus. Calibration certificates are available on request for AHJ submittal.

What if my fire pump fails the annual test? expand_more

We document the failure, identify the root cause (impeller wear, controller fault, suction issue, transfer switch problem), and quote remediation on the spot. Most issues we can resolve within the same visit or with one return trip.

Can you test diesel-driven fire pumps? expand_more

Yes — diesel, electric, and dual-drive arrangements. We service Clarke, Cummins, John Deere, and Caterpillar drivers and Eaton, Tornatech, Master, and Firetrol controllers.
